Heart of the matter

To support and assist the Camp Director and program staff in ministry to the campers. To be an extra pair of hands, eyes, and heart to the campers.

Prerequisites
  • Preference for those who have attended Camp Kanesatake as a camper
  • Ideally, at least 15 years old. 13 if they are known to and recommended by Camp K Staff
  • Aspires to be a counselor, or other summer role at Camp K
  • Encouraged to attend one Counselor Training Day prior to the camp summer season
Specific Guidelines & Tasks
  • Role model to the campers in: devotion to Jesus, attitude, obedience, vision, dress, service, relationships
  • Completes a camp designed Bible study on servanthood before coming to camp
  • Attend a special daily devotion as special prayer warriors for campers/counselors who are having a tough time and for salvation of the campers
  • Come with a teachable heart
  • Helps to set the pace with an upbeat attitude
  • Comes with a cabin game and one idea for talent night
  • "Energy" for older counselors
  • Helps with the scripture learning
  • Move In Day: Directing families, helping to carry stuff, welcoming kids
  • Be an extra pair of hands for the camp director
  • Ringing the bell on schedule to keep the camp on time
  • Attends all the activities with the campers and participates in them also.
  • To do whatever Jesus would do to demonstrate love, friendship, and fun to the campers. A literal: WWJD? Or WWLTC? (Who will love this camper?)
  • In small camps they will perform a talent on talent night
  • Assist in the Camp Store
  • Mingle in the crowd before a meal while the counselors are in the dining hall. Sit with different cabins during the meals, especially where counselors have requested extra help
  • Assist program staff with activity setup and cleanup
