Will there be adult supervision?

A counselor is assigned to each cabin that will house 6 to 8 campers.  Throughout the day, counselors and paid staff accompany the campers at their activities and free time.  The campers are given “free space” to play and make friends, but within the supervision of one or more adults.

What is the food like?

The meals are delicious and the food is plentiful.  (Most meals are served family style.)  The meals provide a balanced diet, and alternative foods are available such as oatmeal, side salads, peanut butter and jelly, fresh fruit, etc.  There are also opportunities to purchase food items at the snack shop.  The standard snack shop items are available – candy bars, chips, pretzels, soda pop, energy drinks, ice cream, snow cones, etc.

Will my child have religion pushed on them?

We are a Christian camp, and will clearly present the gospel in our camping programs and activities.  Our staff will also model a godly lifestyle that we hope campers will want to emulate.

What happens if my child acts up or causes problems?

If necessary, we may contact you to discuss the situation, however we make every effort to resolve issues as they arise.  Our goal is to keep the child at camp for the whole week so that they may benefit from all that camp has to offer.  Our volunteer counselors and summer staff are encouraged to model Christ, so every opportunity to interact with the camper in a real-life situation can benefit the child (and the adult).

What if my child needs to leave early?

No problem.  It is important to let us know at the beginning of the week if you know that this will be necessary.  Also, it is helpful to know who will be picking up your child in case you are not able or not planning to do so.

What if my child gets homesick?

We strongly encourage that you allow the camper to stay for the entire time, so that they can learn to interact with other campers and focus on the activities, friendships, and chapels.  Every effort is made to work with the child to overcome their desire to leave camp.  Read more about homesickness.

How many campers will there be?

Most weeks, we will have about 120 campers.  The Kings Kids Mini Camps usually have between 50 and 80 campers.

What if I have to cancel my camper registration?

The deposit is non-refundable.  If you have paid any part of the regular camp fee, it will be refunded to you.

Why can’t my child take his iPod / boombox / video game / cell phone to camp?

We strongly believe that removing the child from everyday stresses, distractions, and activities helps them to focus on the camp experience.  Once they become acclimated to the rustic camping environment, they begin to enjoy and appreciate their new and unique surroundings.  Also, there is no cell phone coverage on the camp property.

What does my child need to bring to camp?

A packing list is sent in the registration confirmation packets.  You can also see that list here.

What if it rains?

If the campers do get wet, there will be time for them to get dry and change clothes.  Please be sure to pack extra clothes (and shoes) in case this happens.  There are many engaging and entertaining indoor activities that would be scheduled so that the campers continue to enjoy their time at camp.
