Mezquital, Mexico
20 - 28 June 2008
In partnership with
To Every Tribe Ministries
A group of our Youth Quest campers will travel to Mexico with Pastor
Fleming in June.
The Mezquital region of Mexico is situated squarely on the Gulf
Coast, eighty miles south of Brownsville, Texas. Several villages
surround the perimeter of the Laguna Madre and are home to thousands of
people who make their living as fishermen. There is very little
evangelical influence among these coastal peoples.
Our ministry targets will be the villages of La Posa, Media Luna,
Emiliano Zapata, Centenario, Ruby Island and Las Higuerillas. Depending
on the giftedness of our team, we will have opportunity to preach, teach
songs, teach children through a VBS, conduct sports ministries,
construction projects (as needed) and provide medical clinics. Our goal
is to prepare, in advance, self-contained teams which will camp and
minister for five days (Saturday-Wednesday) in these locations.
Mezquital is much more rugged and physically challenging than many
missions experiences. We will be sleeping in tents, there may be no
electricity, no showers (bucket baths) and only outhouses for toilet
facilities. This isn't a ministry for the faint-hearted!
